- Prof Lim Thiam Aun
VENUE: Auditorium 2
TIME: 0930 – 1600 hrs
SYNOPSIS: Intravenous medication commonly used for TIVA include:
propofol, remifentanil, alfentanil, sufentanil, and the non
depolarising muscle relaxants. Most of these intravenous agents
can be given by a Target Controlled Infusion (TCI) using a
number of purpose built infusion pumps.

In addition to discussing the use of the above agents in TIVA, we
will address some of the common concerns such as: How do
I ensure the correct depth of anaesthesia? How do I adjust for
different population groups? In particular, we will focus on the
use of TIVA for sedation during endoscopic procedures.

Ultrasound) is the world’s leading scientific organization
committed to developing point-of-care ultrasound practice,
research, education, technology, and networking, addressing the
needs of patients, institutions, services, and communities in
“critical” scenarios

CRITICAL ULTRASOUND
The concept of 'critical ultrasound' evolved recently from
'emergency ultrasound' performed at the 'point-of-care' in
scenarios such as emergency departments, ICUs, pre-hospital care,
austere environments, disaster scenes, tactical operations, and
humanitarian care missions.

In such settings ultrasound point-of-care image acquisition and
interpretation, integrated with advanced life support protocols
(ACLS, ATLS) according 'ABCDE' and 'Head-to-toes' -type
approaches, allows for rapid and effective decision making,
enhanced triage, diagnosis, therapy, monitoring, and follow up.
Nowadays, this approach is also known as 'Ultrasound Life
Support'.

Workshop 4 - Ultrasound-Guided Regional Anaesthesia
(limited to 30 participants)

COORDINATOR: • Dr Shahridan Mohd Fathil
• Dr Julina Johami
FACILITATORS: • Prof Peter Marhofer

who incorporate or wish to incorporate the use of real time
ultrasound imaging in their practice. The objectives of this
workshop are to provide the workshop participants with the
relevant and necessary information to increase knowledge and
improve PNB performance. The workshop will aim to apply the
principles of ultrasound towards safe practice of regional
anaesthesia. The workshop will include a short introductory
lecture preceeding the actual perfomance of the blocks.

The blocks included are: Upper limb blocks, Lower limb blocks,
